Hi All,
Here is my
first post on the series of posts working through the verse
Colossians
3:1-24 . I am no preacher and writing this is my understanding of this verse.
If you have something to add, please feel free to add in the comments below. I would love to
hear your views.
Colossians 3:1-7
3 Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your
hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things
above, not on earthly things. 3 For
you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. 4 When
Christ, who is your[a] life, appears, then you
also will appear with him in glory.
5 Put to
death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual
immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is
idolatry. 6 Because
of these, the wrath of God is coming.[b] 7 You used
to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived.
There is two things that I have highlighted in the above
paragraph. Lets quickly talk about the first one…
“Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”
God is clearly telling us that if we want a good life we need to
keep our minds on the good things and not on the earthly things. Being jealous
and waiting for good things to happen won’t get you anywhere. If your mind and
soul will be focused on the things above, God will bless you and give you the strength
to accomplish your dreams and more. Do not let earthly, material things take
majority of your thoughts.
Here is the second part:
“Put to death, therefore, whatever
belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust,
evil desires and greed, which is idolatry.”
SEXUAL IMMORALITY ,
IMPURITY, LUST, EVIL DESIRES, GREED
Life on earth is limited for all of us. We all know that, it’s a fact.
However, life in Gods footsteps is eternal. He tells us so many times. He asks
so little of us and offers so much.
How are we suppose to build a healthy environment for our children
and their children with broken souls? Devils happiness comes from breaking down
our souls. He thrives on our weaknesses. Do not give him the pleasure to
destroy your soul. Put to death evil desires and the Lord with bless you with strength
and peace.
Below I’m adding a printable card to keep as a reminder of this
verse and what you can do to practice this verse in real life.
Thank you for reading my post. I hope it will help you living your
life in Jesus footsteps. Enjoy the peace that comes with following the right
path.
Lead your family and children closer to God.
Have a blessed day all and keep your eyes open for the next post
of this series.
